Gregory D. Carper, 68, husband of Marcia R. Carper of Cape Coral, Fl, died, unexpectedly, in his home on Wednesday, June 7.
Greg was born in Charles Town, WV on September 16, 1948. He was the son of the late
Luther (Dick) and Cora (Cozy) Jackson. He is survived by his sister Jennifer "Sammy" (Emory) Carper Kable; neice, Amy K. (Scott) Fincham; grandnieces, Madyson and Julie; nephew, Travis D. (Kelly) Kable; grandnephew, Emmett.
He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Lisa M. Chicarella; stepson, Christopher J. Chicarella, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Chicarella.
Greg was a graduate of Charles Town High School ('66) and Shepherd College ('70). He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi and the Shepherd College Alumni. He was a member of the St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Charles Town. He was also a member of the Springfield, VA Masonic Lodge #217, the Shriners, the Eagles and the Moose Clubs.
Greg retired from the Federal Government in 2005 where he held the position of the Chief Financial Officer of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
Friends will be received at 11 am on Tuesday, June 13 at the Fuller Metz Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd S, Cape Coral, FL. A luncheon will follow at Anthony's on the Boulevard.
Greg was a loving husband, brother, stepfather, uncle, grandpa and friend. His welcoming way made friends feel like family. He was a good man and he will be missed.
