Jacquelyn “Jackie” L. Terry (née Gossard) died peacefully at Hope Hospice on January 23, 2018 in Bonita Springs, Florida at the age of 87.
Jacquelyn is survived by her children Dan from Cape Coral, FL, John from Ruther Glen, VA, and Drew (Tena) Terry from Polo, IL, her 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Danny C. Terry of Polo, Illinois and her parents, Loyd and Hazel Gossard of Sterling, Illinois.
Jacquelyn was born on August 12, 1930 in Ellisville, Illinois to Loyd and Hazel (Manuel) Gossard. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1948 and the University of New Mexico in 1952 with a BA degree with a major in comparative literature. She married Danny Terry, her college sweetheart September 1, 1951. After moving to Polo, Illinois, Jacquelyn began working for the Dixon State School as a social worker. The couple welcomed 3 children into their home.
Jacquelyn was an avid reader and loved all types of stories. She and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe, especially England, when they had the chance. She often played music for her visiting grandchildren and her love for Julio Iglesias was well known throughout the family.
Graveside services will be planned for later this year in Polo, Illinois. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jacquelyn’s life.
