Peter Joseph DiMatteo, Sr., passed away on February 16, 2017 in Cape Coral, FL at the age of 83. He was born on August 5, 1933 in Bronx, New York, where he grew up learning the value of hard work. Pete had been a resident of Cape Coral since 1972, coming from his previous home in Smithtown, Long Island. He was most well known in Cape Coral for working at Headpinz Lanes for the last 41 years. He was a familiar face at the bowling alley and very well liked for his upbeat attitude and all of the people whom he affected in a positive way.
Peter was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, the late Dorothy DiMatteo, in June of 2002. He will be dearly missed by his children, Nicholas (Heather) DiMatteo, Peter DiMatteo, Jr., Donna (Robert) McIver, and Michael (Sally) DiMatteo; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 4PM until 8PM at the Fuller Metz Funeral Chapel in Cape Coral. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 10AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral, followed by interment at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. Friends and loved ones are invited to continue in the celebration of Pete's life immediately following the burial at Headpinz in Cape Coral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hope Hospice 9470 HealthPark Circle Fort Myers, FL 33908.
