Verle M Shockley

Verle Mounts Shockley, (formerly Verle Talaba) , 92, passed away after a short illness. She lived in the Cape Coral/Punta Gorda, Florida area since relocating with family in 1971. Born in Salem, Ohio, Verle graduated from Goshen High School before starting a career in insurance and real estate. Her strong will and fierce independence served her well throughout her life.

In retirement, she enjoyed giving back to the community. She volunteered at a local wildlife sanctuary and crocheted baby blankets for Project Linus. Her avid love for animals meant a dog was always by her side. She kept her mind sharp with computer activities, word puzzles , and was an avid reader.

Verle is preceded in death by her parents, George L. and Elsie R. Mounts, and her eldest brother Leonard Mounts. She is survived by her brother, Clifford Mounts and her 4 children: Katherine E. Baus, Thomas O. Talaba, David G. Talaba, and Karen Talaba Padgett. She has 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
