Arla Jean Pelzl, 83, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away on October 1, 2018. She was born on June 19, 1935 in Waupaca County, Wisconsin to parents Albert and Dorothy Kaminske. She graduated from Dr. Martin Luther High School in New Ulm, Minnesota and went on to study nursing at the local college. She married her beloved husband, Theodore Pelzl on July 22, 1956. Arla Jean enjoyed caring for others as a hospital nurse and also developed in her profession as a retirement home training assistant. The last 10 years of her career, Arla worked as a grocery clerk for Lerbergs Grocery before her retirement in 2002.
Arla Jean greatly enjoyed spending time with family with activities such as camping, traveling, backyard picnics, backyard swimming and parties. She drew her greatest inspiration from her husband and children. She loved attending high school and college sporting events, especially basketball. She was a devoted mother who considered her greatest accomplishment to be raising her family and being a part of God's work. She will be remembered mostly for her love of people and family.
Arla Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Dorothy Kaminske.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Theodore "Ted" Pelzl, children; Lorry (Michele) Pelzl, Terry (Lori) Pelzl, and Rick Pelzl, as well as grandchildren; Gregory, Jordan, Nickolas, Jade, and Zachary Pelzl.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10:00am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am at the Abiding Love Lutheran Church 3205 Chiquita Blvd S, Cape Coral, FL 33914. Lunch will be served following the service. Interment will take place at Geneva Cemetery in Geneva, Minnesota.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hope Hospice and Page Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for the fine care and attention they gave to Arla Jean.
