BARBARA HOINES

Dr. Barbara Hoines, age 75 of Cape Coral, FL passed away on May 20, 2021. She was born in New Rochelle, NY in 1946 to the late Robert and Eleanor Helmrich. Barbara graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1963. Barbara earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Connecticut and later after raising her beloved children she earned her Doctorate Degree at the University of Central Florida.
She married Paul in 1967 in Riverside, CT. Barbara and her family moved to Cape Coral in 1982 from Salem, NH. Barbara was an elementary school teacher in Massachusetts and New Hampshire prior to starting her 30 year career in the Lee County School System, of which began and ended at her cherished Cape Elementary. Barbara regularly attended St. Andrews Catholic Church since 1991. Barbara volunteered countless hours serving local youth sports organizations as well as Bishop Verot High School. Barbara loved spending time at her Summer Cottage in Buzzards Bay, Mass. Her interests included reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Hoines; three children, Derek Hoines, Jodi Hoines, and Kyle (Christine) Hoines; five grandchildren, Cam Hoines, Emma Hoines, Kyle Hoines, Kayla Hoines, and Kole Hoines; three sisters, Patricia (Robert) Sherry, Ellen Helmrich, and Lynn Helmrich; and one brother Robert (Kathy) Helmrich. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard (Laurette) Helmrich.
A memorial service will be celebrated Wednesday May 26th, 2021, 2:00pm at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church with a reception to follow at the church. Her husband Paul plans to have a memorial service at a later time in Buzzards Bay, Mass.
