Blanche E Foltz

February 19, 1923 ~ February 21, 2019 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Tribute

Blanche Elizabeth Foltz was born on February 19, 1923 to Ray Adams and Margaret Wilson Adams of Dana, Indiana. She had two older brothers, William Ray Adams and Jack Edward Adams, and two younger siblings, Gladys Cophine Adams and James Taylor Adams. Blanche was a very good student who continued her love of reading and learning throughout her life, but her father passed away when she was only 12 years old and she had to start working to support her family at a very young age.
She married Vernon Kenneth Foltz at the young age of 16 on December 23, 1939 and the couple had their first child, Beverly Jeanne Foltz in 1942 while living in Clinton, Indiana. They purchased their first home together in Clinton, Indiana prior to the birth of their second daughter, Verna Catherine Foltz, in 1948. Blanche was a homemaker and was very active in raising her daughters, even being a scout leader for their girl scout troops. During that time she was also very active in the Women's League of Clinton.
Her daughter Jeanne was married in 1959 and that same year, Vernon's work in the oil drill industry led the rest of the family to move to Franklin, Pennsylvania after which he spent a lot of time traveling nationally and overseas, leaving Blanche and Verna to spend a lot of time together. Over that time, Blanche was involved in the Women's Society of Franklin, worked in the business office of Franklin Hospital, and then worked for a local physician while also volunteering her time with patient care at the local hospital.
In the 1960s and early 1970s, while residing in Indiana, her daughter Jeanne welcomed two children, Valerie and Robert Walters. Her daughter Verna married in 1972, had a daughter, Heather Catherine DeLucia, in 1982, then divorced shortly thereafter. Vernon retired and he, Blanche, Verna, and Heather moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 1983 where they enjoyed many happy memories with friends and family until Vernon's passing in 1995, after which Blanche spent time with her friends at the Gulf African Violet Society and at the Christian Women's Fellowship of First Christian Church of Cape Coral, volunteering in the gift shop at Cape Coral Hospital, and enjoying time with Verna, Heather, and many friends, the majority of whom have preceded her in death. Blanche was so happy to walk Verna down the aisle to marry Gary Carringer II in 2003 and Heather down the aisle to marry Sky Slayton in 2006, after which the four enjoyed spoiling Blanche with food and love for decades.
Blanche loved flowers, her cats, cloud watching, sunsets, the moon, donating to charity, and beyond all else, she loved her family. She lived on her own until the age of 92 with assistance from her daughter Verna, her son-in-law Gary, her granddaughter Heather, and her grandson-in-law Sky, all of whom she had a very special bond with. She lived with Verna and Gary after her stroke until she required additional care and then lived at an assisted living facility where the staff adored her for her kindness, sense of humor, and positive attitude. The last months of her life were blessed with the amazing care of Gina Baroy in Cape Coral, Florida. She expressed appreciation and love for her family and caregivers until she took her last breaths surrounded with love on Thursday, February 21, 2019 just after 8:00 a.m., just two days after she celebrated her 96th birthday with her family under the glow of the brightest full moon supermoon of 2019. She passed the way she lived, full of love, thankfulness, and faith. We are blessed to have so many wonderful years filled with memories of laughter, as even through the hard times she always made sure that she and the people around her were smiling. In the end, she said that she was ready to pass, but she wanted to take her family with her. After some laughs, she settled on going ahead of us in order to prepare the way for the rest of us to eventually follow. She looked forward to seeing so many loved ones who preceded her in death. Specifically, her father Ray Adams, her mother Margaret Wilson Adams, her brothers William Ray Adams, Jack Edward Adams (Norma), and James Taylor Adams, her sister Gladys Cophine Adams, her brothers-in- law Paul Foltz (Helen) and Leroy Foltz (Grace), her sisters-in-law Hazel Foltz Harvey, Mable Foltz Bernette (Burley), and Marie Foltz Stepp (Bill), her daughter Beverly Jeanne Foltz Walters, her niece Cathy Adams, and her dear friends Julia and Dick Hatfield, Bess Jones, Ray Harris, Marie Vineyard, Katherine and Wilbur White, and Edwin and Jeanne English.
She is survived by a small group of people who adored her including her daughter Verna DeLucia, her granddaughter Heather DeLucia Slayton, her son-in-law Gary Carringer II, her grandson-in-law Sky Slayton, her grandson Robert Walters, her daughter-by-choice Debra Kennedy and her husband Glen Johnson, her niece Ruth Ann Adams, her nephew Steven Adams, and by her dear friend Mary Morgan.
