Tribute

Carl Francis Tersigni

Following a difficult battle to regain his health, Carl was called to God on April 1, 2023. His family and close friends were by his side that day as he peacefully transitioned to a place without suffering and pain.

Anyone who knew Carl will recognize the date of his passing as the kind of day he would pick: April Fool's Day. He loved to tell, play, and listen to jokes, eager to laugh along with anyone who was willing to share the moment. Carl was also a gentle soul who exhibited compassion and an honest conscience, which may have made it difficult for him to bluff when playing the card games he loved, but it also made him into a genuinely caring and loyal companion for anyone who knew him. In his final week on Earth, he was still making those around him smile and weep simultaneously with his irresistible charm and wit. He also loved classic cars of the 1950s and 1960s and had some fast ones that he occasionally enjoyed driving to "blow out some carbon." Carl always longed for the freedom of an open road. He spent many of his working years as a professional driver of trucks, buses, and cars, something he took great pride in doing well.

Carl was born in Providence, Rhode Island, as the first-born of Italian immigrant parents, the late Francesco and Antonetta. Following time in California as a child, his family settled in New York. He then made his own way toward Mount Sinai and Port Jefferson Station, New York, where he raised a family, before finally settling in Cape Coral, Florida. Carl is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Louise Mary Tersigni, known sometimes as "louie" or "weezie". He was a caring dad to his son Frank, daughter-in-law Theresa (who called him "poppy") and their children Nicholas and Gabriela, as well as his daughter Angela and her daughter America. Carl is also survived by his loving sister Janet and her husband Mike, as well as his youngest sister Delores. His dear brother, Guilio, predeceased him but he is survived by his brother's wife, JoAnn.

In his honor, we will celebrate his life and legacy on Saturday, June 3rd and hope anyone who knew Carl will be able to join us.
