Dolores Bertolini

Dolores Bertolini, 89, of Cape Coral passed away peacefully Saturday September 9, 2023. Dolores was born in New York City in 1934 to her parents Antonio and Rosaria Fernandez. She graduated from Washington Irving High School and went on to work as a medical Secretary. She married Aldo in 1956 and shared 55 years together prior to his death in 2011.
Dolores grew up on Madison Street in the Five Points in NYC. While attending high school she starred on the roller derby team while maintaining her Arista Honor Roll status. On a blind date she met her husband Aldo and after a few years they married and moved to Staten Island NY where they raised a family. Together they enjoyed over 50 years of love, family and travel.
In 1986, after retirement from her medical Secretary job of 25 years, Dolores moved to Cape Coral and began another chapter in her life. Here she became a volunteer and made it her life’s work to make the Cape a beautiful place for all. She was instrumental in bringing EMS to the Cape, working the Cape Coral Fire Department and Emergency Operation Center during every storm, participating and grand Marshall of the Columbus day parade, President of CLOUT, the Republican club, Sons of Italy, Relay for life and started and was a member of the Civic Association. She was Cape Coral City Councilwoman from 2004 to 2009. She was honored with the CERT distinguished honor award for her dedicated service as well as the 2004 Cape Coral Chamber citizen of the year.
After caretaking for her loving husband, Dolores became a spokeswoman for the Alvin Dubin Center providing education and solace for those suffering from Alzheimers and Dimentia.

Son, Michael Bertolini, daughter, Linda Reilly (James spouse), 3 grandchildren; James Reilly (Kathleen spouse), Anthony Bertolini (Ashleigh Spouse) and Danielle Reilly and 1 great grandchild, Gianni Russo.
She is predeceased by her brother, Joseph Fernandez and uncle Peter DeMarco
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church on Monday September 18, 2023 at 11:00 am.
