ELSIE MAE LAROE

November 27, 1929 ~ June 14, 2022 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Tribute

Elsie was born in Lafayette, Indiana and was raised in Campbellsville, Kentucky along with her 7 siblings. Elsie entered the Marines sometime after high school where she met and married her husband, Carleton (Red) LaRoe. They were married for 48 years. They started their married lives in New Hampshire and moved to Florida about 1956 where they raised their 3 children in West Palm Beach. When her children were in school Elsie started a job as a Librarian Assistant at a local elementary school. At some point she changed jobs and went on to be a secretary/receptionist in a doctors office where she eventually retired from. Once she retired Elsie and Carleton moved to Cape Coral. During that time Elsie volunteered at Trinity Lutheran School and Church where Carleton also worked in a janitorial and handyman position at the school. Elsie was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Elsie could spend hours playing board games and dice games with her grandchildren. Elsie was witty, funny, competitive and all around a happy camper. Her granddaughter lovingly gave her a nickname as her boot scoot-in grandma.
Mom was blessed to have a very close relationship with all of her siblings and when they were together all you could hear was joyful laughter. We were so lucky to have her for as long as we did.

Elsie was predeceased by her parents, Arvin L. Franklin and Zona E. Franklin Bohanon, husband; Carleton (Red) A. LaRoe, Son; Stephen LaRoe, Brothers; Arvin (Sonny) Franklin, Russell Franklin, Sisters; Catherine Herron (Carl), Ruth Weeks (Art), Rachel Weeks (Robert) and grandson Anthony (Tony) Quinn.
Elsie leaves behind her 2 daughters; Karen (Kevin) Quinn, Susan Fink , 7 grandchildren; Nicole (Jeremy), Kevin Jr., Andrew, Rick, Garret, Katie, Kelsea (Dylan), 6 great grandchildren; Cayla, Delaney, Rylen, Emmett, Jonah, Mason. Elsie also lovingly leaves behind her 2 sisters Jean MacCallum, Charlotte Guthrie and a sister-in-law, Helen Henderson and many nieces and nephews.
