Edward Ronald O'Neill

March 7, 1963 ~ March 14, 2023 (age 60) 60 Years Old

Tribute

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Edward Ronald O’Neill, a kind, loving, good spirited and positive father, grandfather, son, and spouse, as well as an unforgettable friend to so many.
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay on March 7, 1963, Ed was the grandson and great grandson of Irish and Scottish immigrants who came to what used to be known as the “Switzerland of the Americas.” The youngest of three siblings, Ed was educated at the British School and Richard Anderson School, following the tradition of his parents, Ronald O’Neill and Ellen Malcolm, and later on, at the Liceo Suarez, where he met his first spouse Marta Soraya Agobian. At the age of 23, he moved to California and married her on December 20, 1986. They had three children: Sophia Megan O’Neill, born in Los Angeles, CA; Patrick Jeremy O’Neill, born in Cleveland, OH; and Stephanie Marian O’Neill, born in Naples, FL. Ed also had two incredible grandchildren whom he loved deeply: Jack Richard Medina and Nolan Danial O’Neill. Later on in life, Ed remarried on May 20, 2016 in Fort Myers, FL, where he lived with his life partner Rafael Morelli and their beloved, sweet four-legged prince, Titus. Ed is survived by his remarkable children and grandchildren, his wonderful and caring daughter-in-law Jacqueline O’Neill, his loving life partner Rafael Morelli, his beloved mother, Ellen Malcolm, and his siblings, Inés O’Neill and Conrad O’Neill.
Ed spent his life surrounded by loving family and friends. He lived in California, Ohio, and Florida. He also lived briefly in Brazil, as well as returning to Uruguay for a period of approximately three years prior to coming back to the United States where he remained until his passing. He pursued many artistic hobbies which included his love for old cars, drafting, culinary arts, gardening, and painting. Many of his beautiful paintings were dedicated to his children and are a representation of the colorful, warm, and rich spirited man that he was. Ed loved lively music as well as classical music and operas. He also enjoyed entertaining and delighting everyone with his creative cooking. He loved the beach and traveling. He enjoyed gatherings and parties and was a happy, vivacious, loving man that brought light everywhere he went.
Ed passed peacefully on March 14, 2023 after unexpected complications following open heart surgery. Yet, Ed remains with all of us in spirit, in his children and beautiful grandchildren, and through the enormous legacy of what he built and worked for throughout his life. He was adored by all and stays with us. He lived a full life with joy and happiness and will always be our “Social Butterfly.”
