Elizabeth Golden Culleton, 77, died peacefully, surrounded by family at the Hope Hospice House on January 1, 2022. Liz was born to Harold and Mary Golden in Passaic, New Jersey on May 28, 1944. She was an only child but grew up alongside a whole host of cousins. She leaves behind her husband, Thomas Culleton, married in 1964, and their two daughters, Mary Culleton-Burchers, her husband Bryan Burchers, and Kathleen Culleton Griffin, and her husband Sean Griffin. Liz and Thom have four grandchildren, Elizabeth Burchers Brust, her husband Mathew Brust, Laura Burchers and Meghan and Kevin Griffin. Liz graduated from DePaul High School and later Montclair State University. She taught home economics in Lee County for 29 years, at both North Fort Myers and Mariner High Schools. Liz had many happy memories of being a teacher and maintained amazing friendships throughout her career. She was known for frequent entertaining, daily mass attendance, and her sparkling Irish eyes. Her greatest joy was derived from long talks with her loved ones and her close relationships with her daughters and husband. Liz was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer in November. Her suffering was minimal, and she was happy to spend her final weeks in deep talks with her loved ones.
