Eugene G. Principi, 76, passed away on May 19, 2017. Born in Warren, Ohio, Gene resided in Detroit, MI and Chicago, IL before coming to southwest Florida in 1998.
Gene began his career with the United States Army, and later moved to work in finance as CFO of William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI, as well as Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. While in Chicago, he led fundraising efforts for the March of Dimes. He was an innovative financial leader, and fully retired in 2001.
Gene was a member of the American Legion and served as Treasurer of the Cross Creek Single Family II Association. He enjoyed stamp collecting and was a “people person” who made a friend of anyone he met. Above all else, Gene loved to spend time with his family: he was a loving husband to Judy for 55 years, and devoted father to Joe Principi (Amy) and Gina Homant (Mike). Gene was a very proud grandparent of his two Eagle Scout grandsons, Nick and Mitch, and wonderful granddaughters, Molly and Ellie. He will also be dearly missed by sister Carol DelloStritto and brother Michael Principi.
Visitation will be held on June 10, 2017 from 9:30AM until 10:30AM at the Blessed Sacrament Church  in Warren, Ohio.  Mass will begin at 10:30AM in the church.  A luncheon will be provided at Restaurant 422 immediately following.
