As a young man Garry learned to work hard and to take on whatever job was available to support himself. He joined the Marine Corps, played baseball, and worked as a hairdresser.

In 1966, he met the love of his life, Lois Villani. They lived together almost inseparable for over 54 years.  They were residing in New Milford when they brought Garry John Kamphouse III into the world on September 1, 1974. In 1977, they moved to North Fort Myers to live in the sunny state of Florida.  They opened their own beauty salon where they serviced members of the community for years. And, this is where Garry taught his young son the game of baseball and could be seen pacing around while games were being played. He was not big on flying, but it actually helped him in a way to get to know Jesus. In 1995, Garry became a Catholic.

Garry loved telling jokes, playing in a men's softball league, fishing with Kamp, drawing, painting, reading, going to the library with Grady, talking about tv shows with Lina, and writing poems. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Kamp, Lina, and Grady. At night, he loved watching the Hallmark Christmas movies. On the weekends, he would take the grandchildren to the library, Bokeelia Pier, or out for a cheeseburger. He made up little funny poems to entertain friends and family. Baseball was his one true sport. He loved to watch and taught Garry III the game. He loved to be with family and was always up for fishing, or gathering of friends. On the weekends, he could usually be found either shagging baseballs or at the dog track.

He was a great father, grandfather, and friend who was always there and was willing to help out whenever needed.  A loving grandfather. PopPop was a good man and loved by all.

He is preceded in death by parents, Garry Kamphouse, Jean Kamphouse, and father-in-law Louis Villani.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 6th at 10:45 am at Saint Andrew Catholic Church.
