Harry Frank VanGorden, 78, passed away peacefully at Hope Hospice, in Cape Coral, Fl, on January 29, 2019.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Noel (Sapala) and sister Rosemary (Charles) Rader of Indianapolis, Indiana. Also Julia and William Bugera, Jane and Michael Wellman, Elizabeth Bugera, Matthew Bugera, Andrew Wellman Emily Wellman.
Frank was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Cody High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Detroit Institute of technology. He also had a Master of Arts degree in History from Eastern Michigan University and a Masters of Library Science from the University of Michigan.
He spent thirty years at the Main Branch of the Detroit Public librarian as a librarian working in several reference departments and the technical services department.
He and his wife Noel moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 2015.
Frank had many interests including bridge, gardening, medieval history, reading (especially mysteries) and travel. He and his wife traveled throughout the United States and Europe.
Arrangements are through the Fuller Metz funeral home.
