J Steven Main

J. Steven Main, 72, of Cape Coral passed away August 31, 2018 at home from mouth cancer. He was born in San Diego, CA in 1946 to his late parents Guy and Barbara Main of Champaign, Il. Steve graduated from Southern Illinois Univ. with a B.A. in Media Broadcasting. He began his career broadcasting in television for CBS in Champaign, IL. He later worked as a salesman for the Chicago Sun Times. Later he worked as a lobbyist on the Hill in Washington, D.C. for cable Companies on the East coast. Steve spent some years in Dubai running and installing satellites for that region of the world. He returned to the States to Champaign, IL where he served as President of 3 small companies under the News Gazette Umbrella. Later he opened his own media business, Prairie Production Group in Champaign. He retired in 2013 and moved to Cape Coral in 2015. Steve served on many boards over his lifetime including hospitals and the Boy Scouts. In retirement he continued to consult for the Prairie Center, an addiction and recovery center. He was an active Rotarian for 34 years and most recently a member of the Rotary Club of Cape Coral. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, stepdad, and grandfather. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family.
Survivors include his wife Emily, two daughters Fonda Annette (Matt) Fischer of MO and Kimberly Dawn (James) Watt of IL, three grandchildren; Colby and Nicklaus Fischer and Grace Watt and two great granddaughters; Clara Riley and Aaliyah Rawley. He was preceded in death by his sister Patti Main.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Saturday September 15, 2018 at Fuller Metz Funeral Home in Cape Coral.
