Dear Jim.
May your always walk in sunshine for the happiness you gave.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. A part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
Thank you for the many gifts you gave us, your wisdom and your love.
May you now rest in peace.
James H. Blevins of Cape Coral, Florida, age 78 passed away, June 2, 2022, at Health Park Hospice in Ft. Myers, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife, Merla, three children, Brock, Andrew and Rebecca, and five beautiful grandchildren who filled Jim’s heart with pride, love and devotion throughout his life and during his final days. He also leaves behind his sister, Margie Hages of Athens, Georgia.
Jim was born in Albion, Michigan, September 9, 1943, to James and Mary Boley Blevins. Even though he moved frequently during his long and accomplished career in finance with the Chrysler Corporation, he always called Bay City, Michigan his hometown. He graduated from Tandy High School in 1961 and attended Delta College where he made lifelong friends.
In 1967, the Viet Nam War called him to active duty in the United States Army where he rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. His many commendations include being an Honor Graduate of the Artillery Survey Officer Course and receiving a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster.
After his retirement from Chrysler in 2006, he moved to Cape Coral, Florida where he continued to pursue his favorite pastimes including sailing, playing cards, dancing, traveling and the design and building of home projects. Golfing, his favorite sport, was thoroughly enjoyed with his dearest friends.
Jim would often quote his favorite song that his “life was full,” and he did it, “My Way.”
