Tribute

Janet Arminio Connolly, 88, of New York, NY and Milford, PA passed away at home surrounded by family on December 5th' 2022. Raised in Briarcliff Manor, NY, she graduated from Scarborough Day School and Colby Sawyer College. A theatrical passion and acting talent led to numerous leading roles in high school and college productions. Affectionately known as "Manhattan Jan", she then spent her adult life in her beloved city of New York where she raised 4 children. Her involvement and her fundraising skills were appreciated and evident over many years at both The Marymount School of New York and St. David's School. Possessing an innate sense of style, her classic elegance and understated glamour reflected a self-possessed and stunning confidence. She was, quite simply, the focal point of every setting. She enjoyed fraveling the world with the love of her life, Robert Carpenter, but what made them most happy was enjoying the "city that never sleeps" together as well as enteftaining family and friends at their beloved Pennsylvania country home, ' Hilliehere'. Janet's deeply held faith was a source of great strength and comfort to her over the course of her life. Noon mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral was often the highlight of her day. When Covid made it unsafe to receive communion, she continued practicing her Catholic faith with a televised Mass every day. Janet had a remarkable and unparalleled capacity to engage with and touch people from strangers to intimates that was both spiritual and profound. But for all her complexities, her legacy is a simple one: the great love she shared with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by Cindy C. Auth and husband David, Stephen J. Connolly and wife Deanne, Daniel S. Connolly and wife Sally and Gary T.A. Connolly and husband Rodnei, as well as grandchildren Melissa Auth, Haley and Heather Connolly and Nicholas and Robert Connolly. She was predeceased by Robert W. Carpenter, beloved partner of 39 years. Her devoted family is forever blessed with having had her as their mom, mother-in-law and grandmother.
A funeral mass will take place at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Cape Coral, FL on January 6th, 2023 at 10:45am.
