John Henry Oliver, 70, peacefully entered into rest on April 4, 2018 in the comfort of his home surrounded by loving family. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. He and his family had vacationed on Fort Myers Beach for over 30 years, and just recently retired to Fort Myers, FL, coming from their previous home in Johnsburg, IL where John had owned McHenry Welding for 36 years.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 39 years, Diane Oliver; daughters, Erin (Felix) Canestri and Sarah (Max) Tenorio; and grandchildren, Violet and Max Henry Tenorio; as well as brother, Frank (Nancy) Oliver; and many other beloved family, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank H. and Violet M. Oliver (nee Loek). Please feel welcome to share a favorite memory of John on the tribute page. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 16th at 11:00am at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church 12N462 Tina Trail, Elgin, IL 60124. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration in John's name.
