Jack Whitmore

John Michael Whitmore “Jack”, Age 69, of Cape Coral, died Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Cape Coral Hospital.  Born January 24, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Helen Clare Sharkey Whitmore and William Edward.  Jack married the love of his life, Linda Kropp Whitmore on December 4, 1971 and they were together until her passing in May of 2018.  He recently lost one of his two sons, John Jay Whitmore in December 30, 2019.  He is survived by his son Eddie Whitmore, daughter-in-law, Meredith, and their 5 children, Kevin, Kaili, Kimberlee, Jacob and Jack of Cape Coral.  Also surviving is his sister Helen Whitmore Schneider and her husband Francis M. of Philadelphia, his daughter-in-law Tammy Whitmore of Cape Coral, his brother-in-law Bob Kropp his wife Christine Kropp, his sister-in-law Leigh Kropp Hassano, her significant other George Westenbarger, his sister-in-law Jacque Kropp Miloff and her husband Jeff Miloff and numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces and cousins on both sides of the family.


Jack loved spending time with his family and was happy to retire after working close to 30 years for the Lee County Facilities Department in Fort Myers, FL.  He also liked to take part in many local Texas hold‘em games as well as charity poker tournaments.  He loved watching action movies and Walker Texas Ranger while his dog Loki sat alongside.  Jack loved to be part of the Cape Coral community and will be loved and missed by many.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Whitmore, Robert Whitmore and sister, Margaret Ann, of Philadelphia.  There will be a memorial service on February 15, 2020 at Fuller Metz Funeral Home from 11am to 12pm visitation and 12 to 1pm memorial service.  Following the service will be a celebration of life at Rusty’s Raw Bar and Grill, 4631 SE 10th Place, Cape Coral, FL 33904
