Joseph Anthony Funigiello “Joe”, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2017 at the age of 92.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Ida, in 1997. Surviving family members include his children, Joe Funigiello (wife Terri) of Naples, and daughter Patricia Funigiello of Cape Coral.  He is also survived by grandchildren, Monica Matlosz (husband Michael) of New Providence, New Jersey, and Joseph Funigiello (wife Jayme) of Naples.  He leaves behind three great grandchildren, Joseph, Lucas, and Anthony Funigiello of Naples, and his loving companion, Betty Ziehl of Cape Coral.
Joe was born and raised in New York City and served his country in the Pacific during World War II.  After returning from the war, he began a long career as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service.  He then relocated to Cape Coral in 1980, where he worked at the Araba Shriners Temple in Fort Myers prior to his eventual retirement.
Joe loved his family, was active in Veteran functions, and was always the guy to call if something needed to be fixed.  He also served as an usher and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral.  His kindness and generosity touched everyone he came into contact with and he will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 6PM to 8PM at the Fuller Metz Funeral Home in Cape Coral, FL.  The funeral service will be on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11:30AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church, followed by interment at Coral Ridge Cemetery in Cape Coral, FL.
