Kay Frances Harriott

Kay Frances Harriott (79) passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023 at the Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Cape Coral, Florida. 

Kay led a beautiful life full of family, friendship, and laughter.  Born in Michigan, Kay grew up with her parents, Arnold and Ruth Strang, and three loving sisters, Sherry, Carol, and Candy.  She met her sweetheart, Jim Harriott, in high school and they married in 1965.  Jim and Kay celebrated 58 years of marriage on May 8th.

Kay was a devoted mother to her three children and their spouses: Jim (Tammy) Harriott Jr., Jarrod (Nadine) Harriott, and Krystal (Malcolm) Mitchell.  Her love shined on her seven grandchildren: Zachary, Jacob, and Rachel Harriott; Joshua and Kaleb Harriott; and Savannah and Rebekah Mitchell.

Kay was a dedicated public servant as a secretary at the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Detroit, Michigan in the mid-1960s.  After moving to Florida in 1980, Kay worked as a talented seamstress at R-Nells’ Bridal Shop and a joyful sales associate at K-Mart in Cape Coral, all while raising her three children.  Kay was a dedicated booster to the Cape Coral High School marching band and sports programs in which her children participated.  She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church for 38 years, teaching Sunday School in her earlier years and later joining the choir with her loving husband, Jim.  She loved attending her grandchildren’s school programs, music recitals, hockey matches, and swim meets, and creating family gatherings to celebrate holidays, graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, or simply, a weekend together.

A memorial service will be held on May 26, 2023 at 3:30pm at Christ Lutheran Church-ELCA located at 2507 Del Prado Boulevard South, Cape Coral, Florida 33904.  Refreshments will follow in the Fellowship Hall.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Cape Coral or Christ Lutheran Church.
