Lawrence “Larry” P. Driscoll, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL for 20 years and former resident of Tewksbury, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2018. He was born in Cambridge, MA on July 20, 1945 and was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Burke) Driscoll. Larry graduated from Arlington High School and earned his associates degree from Middlesex Community College. He joined the United States Air Force in 1963 and served in the Vietnam War. He was lifetime member of the DAV, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. Larry was a firefighter in Tewksbury, MA for 35 years. He served as president of Tewksbury Fire Fighters Local #1647 and was a elected trustee of the Middlesex Retirement Board. He was a strong supporter of many charities including the Ronald McDonald House and the Muscular Dystrophy Association . Larry was a loyal friend that loved golf, fluffernutter sandwiches, making lists, watching sports and his Irish heritage. He traveled the world for business and pleasure. He was a collector of kitchen gadgets, sports memorabilia and stockpiler of canned goods and could name any Doo Wop tune in two notes. He was the founder of F.O.L.D. in Tewksbury, MA and Cape Coral, FL. St. Patricks Day will never be the same without Larry. He will be sorely missed for his passion and leadership in all of his endeavors, but especially missed by the members of the TIKI Golf Club of Cape Coral, FL. Please toast him with a ice cold Pepsi and a prayer for a Orioles World Series win in 2019. Larry leaves a son, Stephen D. Houlihan of Coral Springs, FL; two daughters and sons-in-law Rachael and Richard Weinhold of Rindge, NH and Renee and P.J. Dowd of North Chelmsford, MA; five grandchildren, Ethan, Ella and Caroline Weinhold and Ronan and Colin Dowd; his siblings and their spouses; Judy Mullen,, Stephen and Ritva Driscoll,, Andrea and Dick Roche, Suzanne and John Powers, Mickey Pelletier, and a sister-in-law Kelley Driscoll as well as many nieces, nephews and treasured friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol J. Driscoll (White), a brother, Christopher Driscoll and two brother in laws; Danny Mullen and Vic Pelletier.
Please join us for a Irish Wake Celebration of Life on Friday, November 9th from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Paradise Tiki Hut, 1502 Miramar Street, Cape Coral, FL. A Veteran Committal service will take place on Friday, November 16th at 2:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA. A Celebration of Life will follow at the US Bunting Club 449 Bolyston St, Lowell, MA from 4 to 8 p.m.
