Linda Sue Pear (née King) passed away peacefully on July 23, 2020. She enjoyed 70 wonderful years.
She was born in Chicago, IL to a military family and lived in Pennsylvania, Michigan and England before landing in Hawaii when Linda was 12. She attended Washington Intermediate, Aiea High School, and the University of Hawaii where she earned both her Bachelors degree in Human Development and her Masters in Early Childhood Education. She met Charlie, the love of her life, in the disco era of the late 1970’s. They married in 1980 and moved to Kailua on Oahu. Jennifer and Ted were born in Hawaii, and Stephanie was born in Vancouver, Canada, a few years later.
Linda was a loving and compassionate woman, whose kind heart shone through in everything that she did. Her zest for life was apparent in her love for music, dancing and travel. All you had to do was turn on the stereo and she would sing and dance all over the living room. She took French classes for years and always dreamed of seeing the Eiffel Tower; and made that dream a reality not once - but twice! She loved Hawaii and being in the ocean and her eyes would light up at any mention of either. Her energy and enthusiasm were contagious, and anyone who met her could hardly keep from smiling.
Linda was passionate in working with children and taught preschool and was a lifeguard and swimming instructor at Pearl Harbor before shifting into becoming a homemaker for her three children and volunteering her time with various children's charities such as the Hawaii Association for Education of Young Children and the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center. Linda was always there cheering on her kids - whether it be a swim meet, soccer game, or school play. She was known at home as "Mom the Bomb!" She never missed an opportunity to take photos, no matter how much the family moaned, and everyone is so grateful for them now.
She was welcomed home on July 23rd, 2020 by her late mother, Iona King. She is survived by her adoring husband - Charles Pear, Jr., three wonderful children - Jennifer, Charles III (Ted), and Stephanie, her six loving siblings - Dennis, Michael, Trish, Liz, Paul, & Tom, and their families.
Services will be online via Zoom on August 11, 2020 at 3 pm EST. You may join the service by clicking the link below. Kindly ensure you remain on mute so as not to disrupt the service as the family grieves. Linda’s ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony by the family in Hawaii.
