MARGARET A. BERGAU

October 28, 1942 ~ February 13, 2021 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Margaret (“Marge”) Bergau joined her Heavenly Father and loving husband on Valentine’s Day eve 2021. Her legacy will continue to live through her sons and grand and great grandchildren, her siblings, her friends, and her faith.
Marge was born on October 28, 1942 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She lived a full 78 years at the day of her passing on Saturday evening, February 13, 2021 in Cape Coral, Florida.
Although she was a devoted employee of Sikorsky Helicopter and Aircraft and the regional telephone company in Connecticut, Marge always wanted to be a wife and loving mother. She often joked that she prayed to have boys – and God certainly answered her prayers with six serious but fun-loving, at times competitive, and always devoted sons. She got her boys, and was always so proud of each one, individually, and collectively.
In the summer of 1971 Marge, Bill, and the boys moved from Connecticut to Cape Coral, Florida. They escaped the cold to raise their family in the small, yet soon to be booming metropolis of sunny Southwest Florida. While her husband Bill grinded and within a short few years established “Bergau Brothers Plumbing” in 1973 (eventually “Bergau Plumbing”), Marge diligently worked to herd and raise five young and ambitious sons.
While Marge faithfully supported Bill and the family through not only the responsibilities of cooking, cleaning, washing, folding, and organizing for such a large close-knit and extended family, she was also proud to be a valued member at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral. Marge was often seen in the city transporting her kids and their friends to sporting activities such as Pop Warner football and Cape Coral City League basketball and soccer, the movie theatre, and Cape Coral Yacht Club.
Marge supported and volunteered in local organizations such as the Women of the Moose. But her lasting legacy was her family and friends. She was fully devoted to not only her children, but to her five siblings, her children’s friends, and her husband’s siblings and extended families.
Marge was a mom to six boys: William II (Cheryl); Charles; Michael (Libby); David (passed April 5, 1968); Mark; and Joseph. She was a loving, compassionate wife of over 60 years to William I (passed December 30, 2018). She was a caring and special eldest sister to four brothers: Jay; Fred (Adelaide); Kevin (Krista); and Charlie (passed 2020), and one sister, Alicia. Loving grandmother to Mary Morgan, Laurel, Jessica, Hannah, Megan, Mackenzie, Danica, and Auston and loving great grandmother to Teddy, Oliver, and Sam.
She was a friend to many; and she was a devoted child of God who opened her heart to all she met.
She cared just as much for her husband Bill’s siblings and family also (Frank; Wilhemenia; Jack; Penny; and George).
