Mary Virginia Myers Dunlap, 64, of Fort Myers, FL passed on February 22, 2019 at Hope Hospice after a long illness. She was born March 22, 1954 in Richmond VA to the late Dr. Richard H. Myers and Ruth Virginia Lohr Myers. She is the granddaughter of the late Reuben C. and Jessie W. Myers and the late Jacob Milton Lohr and Mary Virginia Lohr, all of the Shenandoah Valley, VA.
She is survived by her beloved son, Kevin Richard Dunlap, two precious granddaughters and namesakes, Whitney Virginia and Grace Myers. She is also survived by her brother, Richard C. “Chris” Myers, his wife Donna, numerous nephews, one special “niece”, cousins, and friends.
She was a registered nurse with the baccalaureate and masters degrees. She was a nursing instructor at the former Danville Memorial School of Nursing and a Hospital Educator at Duke University Medical Center. She was also a nurse entrepreneur for the past 23 years, developing and managing a successful continuing education program for the nurses nationwide.
Services will be conducted at the Tenth Legion Bethlehem Church in Broadway VA. Following the church service, Mary will be laid to rest next to her beloved parents at Fairview Church of the Brethren Cemetery in New Market, VA. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation to be made to an animal rescue service or no-kill shelter of your choosing.
