Mary Jo Davis McClerren passed peacefully into God’s hands surrounded by her family on February 11, 2017 at the age of 91 in Cape Coral, Florida. Born December 2, 1925 in the town of Parrish in Franklin County, Illinois of Della May Johns Davis and Ranold Davis, she was affectionately called “the baby of the family” being the youngest of five children. She married Daniel Warren McClerren of Thompsonville, Illinois on November 5, 1943.
Throughout her life, she was a homemaker, dressmaker, amazing flower gardener and award-winning quilter, leaving beautiful legacies of her talents. She was also an accomplished tennis player, winning the Colorado Senior Gold Tennis Tournament in her 60's. She enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia.
She is survived by her older sister, Lois Fern Ellebrecht, her children Alta Raye Poppe, Daniel Warren McClerren, Jr., Susan McClerren Minaya and her husband Dr. Guido A. Minaya, and David Joel McClerren; her grandchildren Kendall Jay Poppe, Kathy Jo Watson, Brian McClerren, Paloma Minaya and Dario Minaya; and her great-grandchildren Ryan Poppe, Virginia Poppe, Shannon Poppe, C.J. Poppe, Fulton Poppe, Marielana Poppe, Bridgid Poppe, Zane Watson, Pierce Watson, Kayla McClerren, Levi McClerren, Amelia Grace McClerren and Luna McClerren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Warren McClerren, her siblings Mildred Bernice Sloan, James Arthur Davis and Wanda June Supancic and her son-in-law Kenneth Dale Poppe.
A memorial service will be held at the Hope Hospice of Cape Coral Chapel on Saturday, February 18 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
