February 29, 1928 ~ January 20, 2020 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Tribute

Mildred (Millie) Velma York was born February 29, 1928 in Oakland, CA to Catherine and
Joseph Alameda. She went home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 20, 2020
surrounded by her five children and several grandchildren. She was married to Clyde York, Jr.
on September 29, 1946 in Oakland. He preceded her to heaven on January 18, 2012 after 65
years of marriage. Immediately after marriage, Clyde took his bride to his home in Kansas City,
MO where they lived until 1957. They moved to Arvada, Colorado where they lived until 1972,
with the exception of two years spent in Billings, MT from 1962-1963. They moved to Glenwood
Springs, CO where they lived until 1990, when they retired to Ft. Myers, FL to be near their
youngest son, Ron and his family, and to enjoy the warm climate.
Millie was known for her love of family. She loved the times she could just “sit and visit” with
family and friends. She enjoyed watching football, baseball and golf. She knew more about the
games, players and strategy of the games and could carry on a conversation with anyone about
them. Her memory was amazing. She also loved watching the food channel on tv. Family
celebrations would always include prime rib, her favorite. She loved sweets, and cinnamon rolls
were a real favorite. She so loved her family and her last accomplishment was to have all of
her children around her bed as she took her last breath.
Her legacy is her family. She is survived by her five children, Randy (Donna) York, Janice
(Michael) Huck, David (Kathy) York, Mona (Bill) Eads, and Ronald (Denise) York. She has 12
grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A “sit and visit”
celebration of her life will be held with close friends and family at the home of Ron and Denise
York on January 22. Donations may be made in her memory to the Hope Hospice, 2430
Diplomat Pkwy E., Cape Coral, FL 33909 where she received amazing care and love from the
staff.
