Paulena A. Broadfoot

Paulena Augusta Broadfoot, of Cape Coral, FL passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral after battling congestive heart failure. She was 97 years old. Paulena was born on March 6, 1921 in Taylor Ridge, Illinois, the daughter of John Ray and Elsie Wood. She graduated from Reynolds High School in 1938, and earned her degree in Registered nursing from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1943.

She married Delbert Eugene Broadfoot on July 26, 1944 in Moline, IL and they had three children; Barbara Clark, Michael Broadfoot, and Carolyn Bain. Delbert preceded her in death on October 12, 1991.

She was a member of Coal Valley Eastern Starr, the Ladies of the Moose, Widow's Clubb, I.L. Club, Cape Coral Executive Golf Club and the Eagles. She held various positions at these clubs. Paulena was an avid golfer, having teo holes in one. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, knitting, cross stitching and quilting. She loved spending time with all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great- grandson.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Carolyn Bain, 5 grandchildren, 10 great -grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; as well as siblings, Dwight, Henry and Elmer, and many nieces and nephews. She dearly loved her dog, Missy.

In addition to her husband, Paulena was preceded in death by her sister Marna Snow and daughter Barbara Clark.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 5PM to 8PM at Fuller Metz Funeral Chapel 3740 Del Prado Blvd. S. in Cape Coral. The funeral service will be Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 10AM at the Fuller Metz Funeral Home, followed by interment at Lee Memorial Park cemetery on State Road 82 in Fort Myers.
