Richard Anthony Somma

February 21, 1971 ~ March 31, 2020 (age 49) 49 Years Old

Tribute

Richard was admitted into the ICU on Dec. 21 2019. He was such a fighter until his body gave up on him at 8:45pm 3/31/2020 following two episodes of cardiac arrest. Born in Brooklyn, NY and growing up on Long Island' he enjoyed crabbing and fishing. He worked for NYS for many years and eventually became a cab driver. Richard grew up with his two older loving brothers Bobby and Ronnie.

Richard moved to upstate NY, and while working at Walmart he met his wife Lee Somma of 16 years. He knew it was meant to be and asked for her everlasting love, getting married 10/10/2010. Richard has two sons Michael and Christopher and daughter Alexandra. Richard was always a loving family man. His jokes and sarcasm made everyone laugh. Richard was a diehard Star Wars fan. He enjoyed family movie nights and being outdoors. Richard loved the water: being in the pool and going to the beach. Not a moment went by when he did not say "I Love You".

In 2014, Richard and his family moved to Florida for the warm sunshine and the beaches. Living in Fort Myers for two years, he and his family moved to Cape Coral after buying a house together. Sanibel was his favorite beach where he loved watching his family have fun.

Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Lee, his sons Michael and Christopher, his daughter Alexandra, his brothers Ronnie (Dianne) and Bobby (Kathy). His aunts, Uncles, Cousins and nephews, also survive him. Richard is pre-deceased by his parents, Carmine and Anna Somma.

"A loving husband and father gone too soon but never forgotten. We love and miss you so much. Forever in our hearts."

A Poem Written by Lee Somma. My wedding vows I wrote for Richard.

The day we came together and the words that were even said, made me realize that there was no surprise that we were meant to be forever. The way that you make me laugh, and the way that you make me smile, and holding me tight all through the night I knew this was the moment I've been waiting for, for all my life. You are the one, the one for me and there is no other place I'd rather be than here in your arms for all eternity.
