Sarah Ruth George, 96, of North Fort Myers, FL passed away on September 14, 2018 at home with he family around her. She had been a resident of this area since 1956 and had been active in several community organizations including LAPM (Ladies Auxillary Patriarch Militant), Amaranth DV # 9, White Shrine, and Rebecca's all while raising a remarkable family. She was retired from Lee Memorial Hospital in Nursing Administration. She loved traveling with her husband in the motor home and covered almost all 50 states. The motor home could not make it to Hawaii, but it did go to Alaska. She also enjoyed boating, water skiing, and playing cards, but most of all, entertaining family. She always made any guest comfortable and was a great life teacher to her grand and great grandchildren and their friends. Ruth made life long friends where ever she went.
Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She had a real skill at making ceramics and enjoyed board games, card games, and puzzles. God blessed Ruth's family with her presence for 96 1/2 years. She got alot of joy out of doing things with her extended family; Disney Camping in the motor home, theater, preparing holiday meals, with Christmas being her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Robert George, Sr.; daughter, Margaret Eldred; grandson, Bill Hunter; and great grandsons, Eric Hunter and Michael Cantrell as well as seven siblings.
She will be dearly missed by daughter, Sally Hunter; son, Robert (Terry) George, Jr.; granddaughters; Suzi Hunter-Galvan (husband) Gilbert, Ruthie Hunter, Billie Jo Estes (husband) James, Brenda Young (husband) Johnny, Becky Patten, Beverly Eldred and Valerie Eldred, as well as grandsons; Stephen Eldred (wife) Shavone and John Eldred, 12 great grandchildren, 9 great- great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Fuller Metz Funeral Home in Cape Coral, followed by the funeral ceremony, which will begin at 2:30PM in the chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice.
