May 18, 1948 ~ September 25, 2021 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Tribute

On Saturday September 25th, 2021 Tommie (Tom) Allen Pitts passed away suddenly of a brief illness and natural causes, he was 73 years old. He was born on May 18,1948 in Nashua, NH to his parents Louis F. Pitts (July 26 1922,- October 29, 2005) and Ruth E. Pitts (Mayo) (November 30, 1922 - July 05, 1995)

Tommie was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, New Hampshire class of 1966. He has the great fortune of having life long friends from his childhood and high school years. He spent most of his life as an East Derry, New Hampshire resident until he moved to the Fort Myers & Cape Coral areas of Florida after retirement.

Tommie began his engineering career at Sanders Associates in Nashua, New Hampshire. The company went through many name changes and buyouts over the years but Tommie remained a constant through it all. Having this 40 plus year career at the same company provided him the opportunity to make lifelong friendships along the way.

Tommie is survived by his wife of 48 years Veronica (Vicky) Pitts (Collins) his sister Carol Lee Nagle of Newport, RI, and his children Kelli A. Gustafson of Kennebunkport, ME, Katharine (Katie) L. Fusco, Ross Q. Pitts. His niece and nephew Leslie and David. He also has six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

As a family man no one could ask for better. He was all things a husband and father should be, but he was not typical, because there was nothing typical about the man. He loved his family above all else and showed that love in everything he did. From a stern conversation to the shoulder to cry on, Tommie was there. He was the teacher, counselor, encourager, protector, and champion of all. They knew they were loved and in turn he knew he was loved.

In his spare time Tommie loved to tinker around the house. He was always fixing what was broken or making some kind of home improvement. He enjoyed gardening and was excited to share harvests with friends and family. Sometimes he would pass around fresh produce but often it was canned or freshly cooked dinners.

The New England sports teams were of course Tommie’s favorite, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. He also enjoyed getting out on the golf course with his family and many friends over the years.

After moving to Florida as he did in school and at work, it was easy for Tommie to make friends and many of those friends he considered his “Florida family”. Being a Floridian was always a dream of his; it gave him the opportunity to golf and garden year round, but mostly he was able to enjoy the sun and warmth that only Florida can provide. He was truly in his happy place.

Over 73 years the common theme you will notice about Tommie is the bonds he shared with his family and the forever friendships he made on his journey in life. He touched many people and in turn he was blessed with the gift of love and friendships that are rare to find, he knew this and cherished all.
