Verla Lillian Sibery

Verla Lillian Schenck Sibery, born July 27, 1927 in Yale, Michigan went peacefully to meet her maker on July 11, 2019. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who was known for her wide smile and infectious laughter. She was a beautiful, kind and loving person with a sweet and appreciative word for anyone who crossed her path. She was always there for her extended family. Verla was the oldest child of Charles and Lillian Schenck and the sister of Verda Cruce and William Schenck all of whom predeceased her. She was also a wonderful daughter-in-law to Edith Clifford Sibery Schenck. She was the mother of Linda Sue Sibery Crawford and her husband Leland, Donald Charles Sibery and his wife Leslie, and Douglas Edward Sibery and his wife Wendy. She loved being a grandmother to Christina and Leland Crawford, David Sibery, Katherine Daggett, Matthew Sibery and Michelle Didzbalis. Verla also lived long enough to have six great-grandchildren: Isaiah and Oskar Guthrie, Finnegan Crawford, Lilija Didzbalis, Christian and Charlotte Daggett. Verla and Gene married as teenagers and already had two children by their early 20s. They struggled to make ends meet. Verla could make a pound of hamburger last a week! Their hard work together never faltered as they made a life for themselves and their family. They were entirely devoted to each other, a model of marriage for 61 years for all those who knew them. Along the way she proudly earned an Associate Degree from the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL. Verla continued to soldier on after Gene’s death enjoying their retirement home in Florida and her dedication to Faith Presbyterian Church and its Women’s Circle as well as her PEO Chapter GD. She will be sorely missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on August 3, 2019 at Faith Presbyterian Church, Cape Coral, FL
