Werner K. Hardt, 92, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2019. Werner was born in Alt-Marrin, Pommern, Germany to the late Erich and Else Hardt. Werner’s relatives include his wife of 59 years, Alma “Helga” Hardt of Cape Coral; his son, Norbert (Laurie) Hardt of Lempster, NH; his brother, Bruno (Inge) Hardt of Peine, Germany, his brother-in-law, Magnus Kiauka of Madison, CT; and his beloved grandchildren: Erich (Angelika Nadeau) Hardt of Rochester, NH; Bryon Hardt of Medford, MA; Kasey Hardt of Charlotte, NC, Kevin Hardt of North Conway, NH; and Steven Hardt of Rochester, NH; and several nieces and nephews in Germany. Werner was a member of the German border patrol during World War II, and he spent a year as a POW in a Russian prison camp. After his release, he trained as an auto technician with Mercedes Benz, and eventually emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1955. He traveled throughout the US and settled in Connecticut.
