William Clyde Thornburg - Born in Minneapolis Minnesota to Earl Thornburg and Katheryn Dunn Thornburg, accompanied by a loving sister Jeri. Bill’s father guided him for apprenticeship with Western Electric then he proceeded to the United States Airforce where he used his skills as an electrician communications installer stationed in Thailand and Greenland. Bill’s wife Sandra stayed in Des Moines, Iowa raising their daughter Rori and Bill’s adopted son Brandon. Returning to the US William furthered his career with the Western Electric Company where he was able to raise and support his family throughout the years. Bill was a Free Mason and joined the Shriners with Sandra’s uncle where they spent many years raising charitable contributions for the children’s burn unit and the Shriners Hospital. He loved snowmobiling, scuba diving, and sailing with his friend Burch and their friend Cooper spending hours conversing and illustrating inventions in notebooks on how to better the world. Much of weekend family time was spent at the Rising Sun Stables in Polk City, Iowa riding horses, building, fishing, and socializing with close friends in the fresh air of the great outdoors. Bill and Sandra retired to Florida along with other family members and worked for the Sanibel Moorings Resort where retirement was a permanent vacation.
William leaves behind a loving daughter, son, nieces, nephews, family, friends, and neighbors throughout the United States. He will be missed by all.
May you rest in peace.
