Deborah Doty Pollard passed away at home in Cape Coral, Florida, the morning of February 28, 2017.
Deborah Louise Doty was born February 7, 1953, in Knox County, Missouri, to Glen Everett Doty and Donna Burrus Doty.
She married Peter Grayson Pollard on September 7, 1974. Deborah’s education included a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from the University of South Florida. Her thirty four year teaching career, from 1975 to 2009, was at Fort Myers High School, her alma mater. She was an English, humanities and British literature teacher and her students were primarily AP and IB.
Deborah travelled extensively through Europe visiting numerous museums, attended concerts and went to the theatre. While in Europe, she was able to view the paintings and art that she taught and felt so passionately about.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her half brother Lee Ward Doty and half sister Helen Doty.
Deborah is survived by her husband, her sister Glenna Sue Doty, her half sister Wanda Lilly, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The love of her husband was her greatest joy and her greatest comfort was her faith and friends at Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral, Florida.
The service for Deborah is scheduled for Friday, March 3, 2017, at 10:00 am at Faith Presbyterian Church, 4544 Coronado Parkway, Cape Coral, Florida, 33904. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in Deborah’s name.
