Gunter Wortkotter, 84, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away surrounded by family on February 6, 2018. He was born in Dortmund, Germany in 1933. He immigrated to Toronto Canada in 1956. He met Rita the love of his life at The German Club in Toronto in 1959. They married in 1960. He worked as a painter during this time. In 1964 Gunter moved along with his wife to Cape Coral, Florida. He was a successful painting contractor and business owner in Cape Coral. When he retired he and his wife traveled the country in their Motor Home. They visited many interesting places. He is a Charter Member of The German American Club in Cape Coral, Florida. The German American Club was Gunter’s greatest passion. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved his dogs and his beer.
Gunter is survived by his wife of 58 years Rita, his daughter Lisa (James), his sons Mark and Steven (Beth), his grandchildren Brittany, Chase, Brandon and Bridget. Gunter is also survived by his brothers Joseph and Clement and his sister Margaret. He’s survived by his beloved grand dogs Louie, Annie and Friday.
A mass will take place at St. Andrew Church, 2628 Del Prado Boulevard, Cape Coral, Florida 33904. The mass is scheduled for February 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The burial of cremated remains will follow at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A reception will also take place at The German American Club following the Internment.
